Frailty and multimorbidity are separate yet highly related concepts. Both require exploration of possible causes and solutions. This on-demand webinar delves into the concept of Critical, Tame and Wicked Problems. Messy and Elegant Solutions as developed by Professor Keith Grint, Professor of Public Leadership and Management at Warwick Business School) to frame complex clinical problems and provide consequent approach to resolving them.

Learning objectives: Upon completing this course, you will be able to:

• Use a patient-centred approach to identify and prioritise areas requiring treatment in patients with multimorbidity
• Use a multimorbidity care model to structure patient consultations
• Formulate and apply strategies that enhance patient–clinician communication to aid patient education and improve patient care and safety.

Professor Mieke van Driel is Emeritus Professor of General Practice, Faculty of Medicine, The University of Queensland. Mieke served as Head of the General Practice department from 2011 until she retired from her academic roles in 2021. Her research focuses on generating, synthesising and implementing evidence that is relevant to GPs in clinical practice. She continues to be involved in research and in mentoring junior researchers, but now has more time for clinical work as a General Practitioner in Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander health.

Dr Jagdeesh Singh Dhaliwal

is a general practitioner in South Eastern Melbourne with a special interest in aged care. He is the Chair of the Expert Advisory Group for Older Adults at North Western Melbourne Primary Health Network. Jag has over 20 years’ experience as a GP partner in England and has served as Deputy Director of Postgraduate Medicine at Keele Medical School, Honorary Associate Professor in Health Services Management at the University of Warwick and as a Consultant Medical Adviser in Healthcare Technology Strategy to global companies including BT Plc and a variety of Australian and UK SME technology companies.

Jag has lectured widely in the UK, USA, Latin America and Asia and his particular interests lie in healthcare leadership, ageing and complexity and supporting new technologies and innovation.
